回指是篇章连贯的重要手段，也是当代语言学研究的热点之一，因为影响回指的因素众多而且错综复杂，目前仍难以得到一个统一清晰的解释。因此，《汉语篇章回指研究（英文版）》旨在对汉语篇章的不同回指形式进行系统研究，力图找出不同回指形式的使用规律，并在此基础上对众多回指形式的不同使用规律进行了总结研究。
