本书共分为五章: 第一章研究了甘蔗起源及分类现状; 第二章分析了甘蔗及其野生植物的贡献及价值分析; 第三章研究了甘蔗野生资源的杂交模式与效果; 第四章探究了甘蔗及其野生植物的混合栽培模式及其效果; 第五章进一步阐述了甘蔗栽培的创新培育方法。全书以实践栽培为基础进行研究, 理论准确性高, 数据结构严谨, 为后期甘蔗育种方面的研究提供较完善的理论研究基础。
吴才文，男， 1963年生，研究员，毕业于四川农业大。主持培育甘蔗品种10个，出版专著8本,发表论文205篇，主持的成果获云南省科技进步一等奖及神农中华农业科技奖一等奖2项。为省委联系专家、国家糖料产业技术体系岗位科学家，云岭产业技术领军人才,享受云南省政府及国务院特殊津贴专家，云南省甘蔗种质创新及新品种选育创新团队带头人。
