本教材是针对大连理工大学研究生公共英语基础课程“英语口语交流I (基础交流)”编写的教材。教材主要解决学生在英语口语交流中出现的三个主要问题：（1）学生英语发音不太准确。（2）学生不太熟悉日常生活的英语表达。（3）学生不太会用英语完成任务。
马建军，博士，副教授，硕士生导师，大连理工大学外国语学院教师。2002年毕业于英国卡迪夫大学，获得应用语言学专业硕士学位；2012年获得大连理工大学计算机应用技术博士学位，专业方向为机器翻译。自1996年以来，一直进行英语教材和参考书的编写工作，独立编著和独立主编12本，主编7本，参编教材7本，主审2本，内容涉及英语口语、阅读、词汇、托福听力等。
